Microspheres are spherical alumino-silicate particles filled with nitrogen and carbon dioxide originating as a result of hard coal burning in power stations. The following can be numbered among the most important properties of microspheres:
- high temperature resistance;
- a neutral impact on the environment natural product;
- good thermal and acoustic insulation;
- low specific weight.
Microspheres are exclusive material with unique properties.
Microspheres are particles of slag originating during coal dust burning process in big furnaces, mainly in power stations. During the burning process plastic slag surrounded by gases creates at the periphery of high temperature zone granules (bubbles) 0 – 0.5 mm in diameter containing gas inside. The granules (microspheres) transported together with slag to a sedimentation pond flow out over the water surface. Microsperes picked up from the water surface are directed to a dripping chamber made of tarpaulin losing excessive water this way. After long enough seasoning, when water content is lowered to about 20% microspheres are packed into polypropylene bags and in this form sold for further processing.
